then we hopped on the subway and RAN to catch the Statin Island Ferry...but were 3 minutes late...so we got the next one...we were going with paul to check out a possible apartment for him, his wife, and their baby son.

after apartment hunting, we came back to Manhattan and walked around. we first walked up wall street and checked out ground zero. i was reminded that the last time i had been in NYC was about 2 weeks before 9/11, so i was a bit pensive as i looked at the big hole in the ground. there are plans for a museum/memorial, and workers were busy around the site. flowers were also stuck in the fence in various places.

then we walked through chinatown on our way to little italy and stopped for BUBBLE TEA...yea!!!

we stopped for lunch in little italy, pizza from the street...it was WONDERFUL to sit down for a few minutes.

we walked back to our car and drove across the brooklyn bridge, scoped out possible rental sites, and ended up catching a power nap on the grass in this lovely park overlooking manhattan. it was perfect!

then we met up with David Chong, who generously took us all out for dinner at this cool thai place on the street...
good conversation and catching up. it was neat to watch rob interact with guys he knew from so long ago and who have had an impact on his life. some of the stories were humorous as well...you can always count on old friends to tell the funny stories about your husband...

Rob says, "it's exceedingly edifying to interact with disciples of Jesus who are outside of your particular subculture. It was so sweet to reconnect with Chongo and Paul and share a bit of our lives as the Redeemed. Amazing and satisfying."
it was amazing to think it had been 11 years since paul or rob had seen david...it was thought provoking that so much time had passed, and so interesting to hear how differently these 3 had spent the last decade.

here's just a fun one....a little fun with the camera that vince taught me.
