Well, those are the things that describe this weekend...we had planned to go visit my parents in VA, but because Rob's friends from YWAM back in '99 are going to be in NYC tomorrow, we decided it would be good to go see them and, sadly, postpone our trip to see my fam. So sorry there haven't been updates in a month and a half...i guess there is not really much to report!! the excitement earlier this week was due to this bird, flying stupidly and repeatedly into our kitchen window. we are sure it's mating season and it sees some bird in the reflection, but how many times does it take banging into glass to get the point??? i thought it was funny at first, and took some pics, and then it started getting annoying...and THEN i realized it was doo-dooing all over our deck and deck furniture!! eww. i'm glad we have a hose. (for the doo-doo and the bird)
We were also gladly visited by some Philly friends...Dan and Noele Huie, who have been close friends of mine (ours) since college. they were in town for a friend's wedding and we were lucky to get a late friday night and saturday morning with them.
finally, another spontaneous event that happened was rob's brother steve offered to come help us finally put in our backsplash in the kitchen. we had bought the tile and set it aside waiting for a free weekend. well, it worked out perfectly and it's all done except for the grout and sealant. we love it!!!! thanks to steve for his hard work.

Hi Mary! I found your blog from Janet. It makes me miss the old neighborhood. But, Dave and I are loving it out here in California. Anyway, your backsplash looks awesome. I hope to do something similar in my kitchen.
