Annual Florida Trip 2008

Here's the gist...the pics uploaded way too small, so i will have re-upload them, and will do so asap. you just have to see the alligator pictures a little bigger! :)

Each year we make it a goal to drive to Florida to visit Rob's grandparents and my grandmother in NC. This year we expanded the trip to a week and drove down to Miami to visit some friends as well...get ready for lots of pictures!

this is us with Rob's grandfather (the original GRG):

then we stopped in venice, FL for a few hours to catch some rays (sunscreen heavily applied)...

this is the first seahorse i've ever seen that's not been a picture in a book...way cool. and kinda gross...

on to Miami, where Toni and Mari graciously hosted us for 2 nights...we spent the next morning checking out the everglades and some alligators...

this is us on the airboat with the wind in our faces...

here's an alligator coming up to the airboat!

and an alligator show...here's a 4-month old

and wrestling a big alligator...slightly scary

and me braving the leathery animal myself...scary and gross, but i had to do it

then to south beach for the afternoon...it was windy on the beach as you can see, so i didn't last too long there. after some paddle ball, we headed out for lunch at a cute french bakery and just walked around.

downtown miami at night...no tripod w/ me, but had to take pics anyway. it was beautiful! we walked w/ friends Toni and Mari around this cool 5-star hotel and surrounding grounds.

the four of us at breakfast the next morning before we left for northern FL...we also ate w/ Mari's parents and brother. fun times!!

then to visit rob's grandma for her birthday...what a special treat...we got to see the whole family (minus Jason who was sick--hope he is feeling better!) and had a great time.

on the way home, we stopped by my grandma's in NC and got to have a lovely visit over lunch w/ her and my aunt sue and uncle phil. it's always great to see them!

then....home. and to rest after all that driving. :)
